The Tsjalling daughters Jannie M/P and Gwenda S/P
In pedigree 143, two daughters of Tsjalling stand out for their excellent breeding performance, the model mare Jannie of Kortstra Bantega and Gwenda; J.Tj. Holwerda Niawier, who is now 83 years old, bought Gwenda as a two-year old in 1975.
Jannie
Jannie herself had good breeding type characteristics (model), which she also passed onto her offspring.
At the breeding days in Wolvega, for example in 1984 and 1986, she took the titles in the breeding group category.
In 1983, she was classed 1B with her daughters Diet (1B) and Adelmoed (1C).
The same year, at the Central Inspection, these horses received 1B and 1F, respectively.
In 1984, Diet was awarded 1B and pronounced youth champion, while Adelmoed (1A + star) took the champion title in Wolvega.
Yearling Froukje was awarded 1A.
At the Central Inspection, Adelmoed and Diet took a 1C and 1A, respectively.
In 1985, Adelmoed became breeding day’s champion in Wolvega.
In 1986 and 1988, at the Central Inspection, Nienke was awarded 1A among the yearlings, won the youth championship and, a year later, was rated 1C.
Gwenda
With eight star-quality descendants, Gwenda is ‘two times’ preferent, while a Hearke-mare still has to be registered.
Her eldest daughter once took 1A in Drenthe, Paola was breeding day’s youth champion in Bergum in 1979; Djopie, breeding mare of Wester, Tjerkgaast (e.g. Tjitze Anne), descends from Sjoke; Berber was designated star, holding 1D at the time, a well-performing mare; Trientsje, daughter of Jillis, was, as a foal, awarded a first premium and later, as three-year old, a first at the Central Inspection and she also scored well in a mares test.
In 1981, Gwenda won with three children the breeding day’s best breeding group award in Bergum and in 1984 she was awarded 1C with three star daughters.
